The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) has awarded its Annual Achievement Award to Hosting365

The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) has awarded its Annual Achievement Award to Hosting365, Ireland’s leading domain registry and web hosting company. The Award, comprising a € 5,000 prize and a perpetual trophy, recognises dot.ie resellers who have made a significant contribution to the growth and development of dot.ie registrations in the past year.

Annual Achievement Award 2006

Speaking at the presentation of the Award, Mr David Curtin, Chief Executive of the IEDR, said that Hosting365 had a proven track record in encouraging high take-up of dot.ie registrations, and had increased its number of yearly dot.ie registrations by 48% in 2005.

“Through excellent service and support, Hosting365 has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of dot.ie. Ireland now has over 60,000 dot.ie registrations. Growth rates are accelerating thanks to the efforts of our reseller group, who are now seeing a return on their investment in systems, personnel and in marketing.” Mr. Curtin added.

Hosting365 was set up in 2001 by former primary school teacher Stephen McCarron, and now has a 30% market share of the Irish web-hosting sector. The company had a turnover of € 3.5 million in 2005, and plans to grow this to € 6 million in 2006.

Stephen Mc Carron, Managing Director of Hosting365 said .We are happy that the IEDR have awarded us this honour, it is testament to the back-office systems we put in place in 2005 to streamline .ie registration and the dedicated staff we have managing this area.

The number of dot.ie registrations in Ireland has increased considerably in recent times, with dot.ie registrations averaging over 1,000 per month during 2005. Dot.ie registrations grew by 36.8% in 2005, driven mainly by the business community, who represent 84% of dot.ie registrations. This growth can be attributed to economic buoyancy, the increased roll-out and take-up of broadband and the increasing number of websites with local, relevant, and compelling content such as www.daft.ie and www.myhome.ie which bring thousands of new consumers online.

Presenting the award, Noel Dempsey T.D, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources said: “It gives me great pleasure to present the second annual IEDR Annual Achievement Award to Hosting365 for the contribution they have made to the growth of dot.ie domain registrations this year. Dot.ie as a vital national resource, providing businesses and consumers, confidence and security as the internet becomes increasingly dominant in our lives.”
